Oil Ministry to deploy tactical teams for petrol pump inspections
Some people in India were worried that petrol sellers were cheating customers by mixing bad things into fuel.
A group called Team Bharat, led by Tehseen Poonawalla, talked to the government about this problem.
The government agreed to send special teams to check petrol pumps many times each day.
These teams will look for water, salt-like chemicals and other things that should not be in fuel.
If anyone has proof that a petrol pump is selling bad fuel, they can show the proof to Team Bharat.
Then Team Bharat can take it to the government, and action will be taken against the person who cheated.
The two sides met for the second time to discuss these ideas.
They also talked about E20, a type of fuel that may be used more in the future.
More meetings are planned for next week.
Team Bharat promises that very soon, bad petrol will be a thing of the past in India.
The Oil Ministry agreed to deploy Tactical Crack Teams to inspect petrol pumps 8–12 times every day, a part of which has already begun.
Team Bharat held its second constructive meeting with senior officials from the Ministries of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Road Transport & Highways.
Fuel quality monitoring will be strengthened to detect moisture, chloride and other forms of adulteration.
Citizens with documented evidence of fuel adulteration can share it with Team Bharat, which will take it up with the Ministry for action.
Further discussions on E20 implementation, pricing and policy are planned for the coming week.
