Greenfield Corridor to Bypass Kishanganj, Improve Siliguri Connectivity
25-km greenfield corridor to bypass Bihar’s Kishanganj, ease Siliguri connectivity · thestatesman.com

A new 25-kilometre road is being planned in West Bengal.

It would help vehicles travel between North Bengal and Siliguri without passing through Kishanganj in Bihar.

Today, travellers may face delays because they cross into another state and can encounter checks or other formalities.

The problem affects traders, transporters and families.

BJP MP Kartik Chandra Paul raised the issue with government officials and Union minister Nitin Gadkari.

Officials informed him on August 30 that the bypass would be developed.

The report needed to plan the road is now being prepared through a tender process.

Land would be acquired after that report is completed.

Supporters expect the road to shorten journeys and encourage new economic activity.
