India Highway Toll Collections May Rise 12% in FY28
A report says India may collect more money from highway tolls in 2027-28.
The increase could be between 10% and 12%.
Toll collections may grow more slowly in 2026-27 because traffic and toll-rate increases are expected to be weaker.
Highway traffic is expected to grow by about 4.5% to 5.5% in that year.
Traffic growth is linked to activity in construction, mining and manufacturing.
Higher toll-rate revisions are expected to help collections the following year.
The government is expected to build about 9,000 to 9,500 kilometres of roads in 2026-27.
It may also award more road projects and encourage private companies to participate in toll-based projects.
ICRA expects national highway toll collections to grow 10-12% in 2027-28.
Growth is forecast to moderate to 7-9% in 2026-27 from 10% in 2025-26.
National highway traffic growth is projected at 4.5-5.5% in 2026-27, down from 6% in 2025-26.
Higher toll revisions in 2027-28 are expected to support collections, alongside stable traffic growth of 4-5%.
Road execution is expected to remain at 9,000-9,500 km in 2026-27, while awards may rise to 8,000-8,500 km.
