Karnataka Lokayukta Searches 33 Locations, Finds Crore-Worth Assets
Karnataka’s Lokayukta agency investigated eight government officials.
It searched more than 33 places connected to them and their relatives.
The searches happened in seven districts.
Officials said they found assets worth about Rs 29.62 crore.
These assets included houses, land, money, jewelry, vehicles and bank deposits.
The agency is examining whether some of these assets were greater than the officials’ lawful income.
Sridevi and H M Ranganath were linked to some of the largest alleged amounts.
The searches are part of cases, and the report does not say that anyone has been convicted.
Karnataka Lokayukta officials searched more than 33 locations linked to eight government officials in disproportionate-assets cases.
The searches covered residences, offices and relatives’ premises across Bengaluru, Chikkaballapur, Kalaburagi, Mandya, Kodagu, Dharwad and Bidar.
Officials said assets worth about Rs 29.62 crore were identified, including property, agricultural land, cash, jewelry, vehicles and fixed deposits.
Bengaluru District Registrar Sridevi was linked to alleged disproportionate assets worth Rs 6.8 crore, including a garment factory, cash and jewelry.
Retired officer H M Ranganath was linked to alleged disproportionate assets worth Rs 3.85 crore, including Rs 1.03 crore in cash and a Rs 1.42 crore fixed deposit.
