Delhi Bans New Non-Electric Goods Vehicles From 2027
Delhi is introducing a rule for new goods-carrying vehicles.
From January 1, 2027, new petrol, diesel and CNG vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tonnes cannot be registered in Delhi.
These vehicles are called N1 vehicles.
The rule applies only to non-electric vehicles.
A second restriction will begin on January 1, 2028.
It will cover larger non-electric goods vehicles weighing between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes.
These vehicles are called N2 vehicles.
The Commission for Air Quality Management issued the order, which will affect several commercial-vehicle manufacturers.
Delhi will prohibit registration of new non-electric light goods vehicles from January 1, 2027.
The restriction covers petrol, diesel and CNG vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tonnes.
Four-wheelers in this weight category are classified as N1 vehicles.
Non-electric N2 vehicles weighing 3.5 to 7.5 tonnes will be restricted from January 1, 2028.
The order affects manufacturers including Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, Maruti Suzuki and VE Commercial Vehicles.
