Inaugural Women’s Andhra Premier League Auction Opens in Vijayawada Today
The Women’s Andhra Premier League is a new cricket competition for women in Andhra Pradesh.
Its first player auction is taking place in Vijayawada.
Four teams will choose players for their squads.
There are 191 players available in the auction.
Some players have played for India, in the Women’s Premier League, or at state level.
Other players have district- or zonal-level experience.
Each team can spend up to Rs 15 lakh on players.
The league is planned for September 15 to 26 in Mangalagiri.
Former India captain Mithali Raj is supporting the league as its brand ambassador.
The inaugural Women’s Andhra Premier League player auction is being held Tuesday at Novotel Hotel in Vijayawada.
A total of 191 players have registered, including 45 in Grade A and 146 in Grade B.
Four franchises will each receive a Rs 15 lakh purse and must spend at least Rs 13.50 lakh.
Squads will contain between 18 and 20 players for the 2026 WAPL season.
The tournament is proposed for September 15–26 at ACA Stadium in Mangalagiri, with Mithali Raj as brand ambassador.
