Bhiwandi Police Bust Alleged Steel Rod Theft Racket, 16 Booked

Police in Bhiwandi say they have uncovered a group accused of stealing steel rods from trucks.

The trucks were travelling on highways near Bhiwandi, usually at night.

Police allege that some truck drivers worked with the group.

The rods were reportedly removed and sold through unauthorised channels.

Officers seized two trucks and steel goods worth about ₹43.89 lakh.

The seizure took place at a logistics centre near Rajnoli Naka.

Sixteen people have been named in the case, but the allegations still have to be investigated.

Police are also checking who bought the steel and whether more people were involved.
