Tamil Nadu Announces Measures to Boost Muslim Women's Education
Tamil Nadu Minister A.M. Shah Jahan announced new help for Muslim girls and women.
Girls in Classes I to VIII already receive Rs.
1,000 each year.
From this year, girls in Classes IX and X will receive Rs.
2,000 each year.
The program is expected to help 41,384 girls.
The government will also pay approved college fees for Muslim women.
A separate college for Muslim women will be built in Chennai.
The state will train 10,000 minority-community members for jobs and self-employment over four years.
It will also build community centres in five districts for public and family events.
