V.O. Chidambaranar Port Handles First Crude Palm Oil Vessel
V.O. Chidambaranar Port received its first ship carrying crude palm oil at Coal Jetty-2.
The ship was called ZY Galaxy.
It brought 15,000 tonnes of palm oil from Malaysia.
Workers began unloading the oil on Friday.
They expect to finish by Monday.
KTV Health Food Private Limited will store and process the oil.
The company can make 1,000 tonnes of refined palmolein each day.
The finished product will be sold for use in nearby areas.
V.O. Chidambaranar Port in Thoothukudi handled its first crude palm oil vessel at Coal Jetty-2 on Friday.
The vessel ZY Galaxy arrived at 10 a.m. carrying 15,000 tonnes of crude palm oil from Malaysia’s Port of Kunak.
The entire consignment is expected to be discharged by Monday.
Importer KTV Health Food Private Limited operates four storage tanks and can produce 1,000 tonnes of refined palmolein daily.
The port has modified Coal Jetty-2 with pipelines linking it to storage tanks about 5 km away.
