Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde Extends Wishes on 80th Independence Day
India just celebrated its 80th Independence Day.
Independence Day is the day India remembers becoming a free country.
The leader of Mumbai, Ritu Tawde, gave everyone a special greeting.
She raised the Indian flag high at her official house in Byculla.
The flag ceremony happened very early in the morning, at 7 o'clock.
She told everyone to keep love for their country in their hearts.
She also said we should remember the brave freedom fighters who helped India become free.
Other leaders, like the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, also raised the flag.
This year's celebrations are all about Yuva Shakti, which means the power and energy of young people.
Everyone hopes the youth will help India become a fully developed country by 2047.
Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde hoisted the national flag at the Mayor's Bungalow in Byculla at 7 am and extended Independence Day wishes to Mumbaikars.
Tawde urged citizens to keep love and goodwill for the country in their hearts and to remember the sacrifices of brave freedom fighters.
She said that if the Central Government, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the state government work together, the dream of a developed India will be fulfilled.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hoisted the flag at Mantralaya, while Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar hoisted the Tricolour in Thane and Beed respectively.
This year's Independence Day celebrations are centred on Yuva Shakti, highlighting the role of India's youth in becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Deputy Commissioner (Division 1) Chanda Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner Anand Kankal, local residents and municipal officers attended the ceremony at the Mayor's Bungalow.
