Kerala sanctions Rs 150 crore for pending paddy procurement dues

In Kerala, a state in India, many farmers grow paddy, which is a kind of rice plant.

The state government buys their paddy and promises to pay them money for it.

The farmers receive a paper called a Paddy Receipt Sheet when they hand over their crop.

Some of the money the government owed for the 2025-26 season was still pending.

Chief Minister V D Satheesan said the government has set aside Rs 150 crore to pay the farmers.

That is a huge amount of money, enough to help many farming families.

Payments will cover every Paddy Receipt Sheet issued up to July 31, 2026.

The money started going out to farmers on Friday, and the Chief Minister shared the news on X, a social media app.

Now the farmers who were waiting can finally get the money they earned from selling their paddy.
