Palaniswami says TVK agriculture budget leaves key farmer promises unfulfilled

A big political party in Tamil Nadu called the AIADMK says the new government broke promises it made to farmers.

The new government, called the TVK, gave its very first budget for farming.

The AIADMK leader, Mr. Palaniswami, is not happy with this budget.

He says the TVK promised farmers many things before the election but did not keep those promises.

Farmers wanted the government to pay them better prices for crops like paddy and sugarcane.

They also wanted help with the loans they owe.

The TVK budget does have some new ideas, like caring for soil, growing more pulses and millets, and producing better seeds.

It also plans to build a phone app that uses AI to give farmers personalised help.

Mr. Palaniswami says the real test is whether the government actually does what it promised.
