Andhra Pradesh SIR Leaves 1.76 Lakh Voter Applications Pending
Andhra Pradesh is checking and updating its voter lists through a process called the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR.
Many people applied to become new voters.
Officials received more than four lakh such applications.
About 2.75 lakh people were added to the voter list, but nearly 1.77 lakh applications were still pending.
People also submitted requests to object to names or correct voter details.
Some of those requests are still waiting to be processed.
Officials have completed most of the required hearings, but some remain unfinished.
The Election Commission plans to publish the final voter lists on October 9.
The Election Commission received 4,04,614 Form-6 applications for new voter registration in Andhra Pradesh.
A total of 1,76,915 Form-6 applications remained pending, while 2,74,829 were added to the rolls.
Form-7 objections had 11,542 applications pending, and Form-8 modification requests had 88,546 pending.
Hearings were completed for 43.74 lakh of 44.28 lakh notices, leaving nearly 54,000 pending.
The final electoral rolls under the SIR are scheduled for publication on October 9.
