Tirupati District Set to Remove 2.87 Lakh Unchallenged ASD Entries
Election officials checked the voter list in Tirupati district.
They found 2,87,835 entries connected to people who were absent, had moved, had died, could not be traced or appeared more than once.
No one objected to these entries during the allowed period, so officials decided to remove them.
Officials also sent notices to about 4.01 lakh voters whose names could not be matched with older records or had other errors.
Verification has been completed for about 1.40 lakh of those voters.
People who do not respond to notices may also have their names removed.
Officials will examine objections until September 28.
The final voter list is scheduled to be published on October 3, and new voter applications will continue afterward.
Officials identified 2,87,835 absent, shifted, deceased, untraceable or duplicate voter entries in Tirupati district.
No claims or objections were filed against the ASD entries before the deadline, so officials decided to remove them.
The verification covered 17,69,438 voters, leaving 14,81,603 voters on the rolls.
Notices were issued to around 4.01 lakh voters over mapping failures, spelling errors and other discrepancies.
Final electoral rolls are scheduled for October 3, while objections will be examined until September 28.
