Hyderabad SIR Notices Pile Up as Delivery Lags
Election officials are checking voter records in Hyderabad through a process called the Special Intensive Revision.
They sent notices to people whose records were missing links or contained unusual details.
More than 12.5 lakh notices were created, but fewer than 4.9 lakh had been delivered so far.
This means many voters were still waiting to receive their notices.
Officials are asking affected voters to provide supporting documents.
They have also held thousands of hearings and received many requests to add, remove, or correct voter information.
Most processed voters were linked either to themselves or to a parent or family record.
The draft voter list published in August included about 27.95 lakh electors.
Officials are continuing the review across Hyderabad’s assembly constituencies.
Election authorities generated 12,54,917 notices for Hyderabad voters whose records lacked mapping or had anomalies.
Only 4,88,575 notices, or 38.93%, had been distributed, leaving 7,66,342 pending.
Officials identified 5,82,217 electors under “No Mapping” and 6,72,700 under anomalies.
Authorities conducted 14,431 hearings and received 3,48,751 claims and objections.
The draft rolls published on August 17 contained 27,95,225 electors across 4,094 polling stations.
