Andhra Pradesh Faces 4.10 Lakh Pending Electoral Applications
Andhra Pradesh is checking its voter lists before they are finalized.
People submitted applications to register, remove, or correct voter information.
By the last submission day, nearly 4.10 lakh applications were still waiting to be cleared.
Most of the pending applications were from people seeking new voter registration.
Officials had also sent notices to many voters and completed hearings for most of them.
However, nearly 3.92 lakh notices still needed hearings.
Many voters were also waiting to be included in the final voter lists.
Officials said the backlog could change as applications from the final day are added, but it was unclear whether the deadline would be extended again.
Nearly 4.10 lakh applications under Forms 6, 7 and 8 were pending clearance in Andhra Pradesh on September 10.
Form 6 applications for new voters accounted for about 2.52 lakh of the pending applications.
Of 44.28 lakh notices served, hearings were completed for 40.36 lakh, while 3.92 lakh remained pending.
The inclusion of 1.34 crore of 3.27 crore other-category electors remained pending for the final electoral rolls.
Photo-quality checks also had major backlogs, including 75.43% pending at the Electoral Registration Officer stage.
