Malayappa Swamy Leads Tirumala Brahmotsavam Processions and Rituals
The seventh day of the Brahmotsavam festival took place at Tirumala.
Lord Malayappa Swamy was carried in a morning procession on a vehicle linked with the Sun God.
Many devotees watched, chanted “Govinda,” and performed traditional dances and songs.
In the afternoon, priests performed a special bathing ceremony for the deity and two divine consorts.
They used milk, curd, coconut water, honey, turmeric and sandal paste.
In the evening, the deity appeared in a Krishna-inspired decoration on a vehicle linked with the Moon.
Rain fell, so a canopy was used to protect the deity during the procession.
A golden umbrella ceremony was also held before the next day’s chariot festival.
The seventh day of Tirumala’s Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams featured Surya Prabha and Chandra Prabha Vahanam processions.
Devotees gathered for the morning Surya Prabha procession, chanting “Govinda” and performing Kolatam and traditional bhajans.
Snapana Thirumanjanam was conducted for Lord Malayappa Swamy, Sri Devi and Bhu Devi using several ceremonial substances.
The evening Chandra Prabha procession featured Lord Malayappa in Murali Krishna alankaram and continued under a protective canopy during rain.
A golden umbrella festival was held ahead of Tuesday’s Rathotsavam, continuing traditions linked to Sri Krishnadevaraya and a golden umbrella used since 1952.
