Tamil Nadu to Lead India’s Wind Energy Growth
Tamil Nadu is a big wind‑energy state in India.
A group called the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association said the state can grow even more by fixing old wind farms, building new factories, and making it easier to send wind parts to other countries.
They also want better power lines so the wind electricity can reach homes.
The state already sells a lot of wind parts and helps many people work.
The plan was discussed at a big meeting in 2026, and the state has a lot of wind power already.
Tamil Nadu could lead India’s next wind‑energy growth by optimizing manufacturing and workforce, per IWTMA report.
IWTMA recommends repowering older wind farms, improving grid infrastructure, and developing offshore wind.
Tamil Nadu has 12,273 MW of installed wind capacity, over a fifth of India’s 57,443 MW total.
The state exports wind turbines and components worth more than Rs 1,000 crore annually, supporting thousands of jobs.
Recommendations include creating manufacturing hubs at Ennore and VOC Port and enhancing export infrastructure.
