India’s Non-Fossil Capacity Crosses 300 GW as Centre Pushes Transition
India now has more than 300 GW of power capacity from sources that do not use fossil fuels.
Solar power makes up about 165 GW of that total, and wind power is close to 58 GW.
The government wants to increase this capacity to 500 GW by 2030.
Officials said India needs to build the equipment, businesses and systems needed for clean energy.
They said simply adding more power plants is not enough.
A major renewable-energy summit will be held in New Delhi from November 2 to 5.
People from more than 75 countries and over 400 exhibitors are expected to attend.
Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu also presented their clean-energy plans.
Telangana said it already has 8 GW of renewable capacity and has attracted promised investment of about Rs 30,000 crore.
