Quit India Movement paved way for Independence, Congress leader says
Independence Day is the day a country celebrates being free.

Many brave people worked for many years to make India free.
One important effort was called the Quit India Movement.
Its slogan was 'Do or Die,' which came from a great leader named Mahatma Gandhi.
The movement shook the British rulers and helped India become independent on August 15, 1947.
On this year's Independence Day, a Congress leader named Boya Kranti Naidu spoke about that movement.
He reminded people how important the Quit India Movement was.
People also held a rally, honored Gandhi's statue, and watched the flag go up.

The AICC adopted the resolution on August 9 under Mahatma Gandhi's 'Do or Die' call, which shook British rule.
Leaders held a rally at Kondareddy Buruju, paid tributes to Gandhi's statue, and witnessed the flag hoisting.
