Many other parts of India will also get rain, and some places will get very heavy rain.
Strong winds of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour may blow in many regions.
The sea near the coasts will be rough, with very strong winds.
People near the coast and in stormy areas should stay safe indoors.
Heavy rain lashed Delhi NCR with an orange alert issued by the IMD, and thunderstorms are likely through the day.
Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 84 at 9 am, keeping air quality in the satisfactory category, per CPCB data.
The IMD predicted widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across several parts of the country, with heavy to very heavy rain at isolated locations.
Thunderstorms with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are likely in Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh.
Squally winds of 45-55 kmph with gusts up to 65 kmph are expected over parts of the Arabian Sea near the Somalia and Oman coasts.
