Maharashtra’s Cabinet approved more money to finish the second phase of a large irrigation project.

The project includes the Majalgaon Dam, canals, barrages and reservoirs.

It is expected to bring water for farming across five districts.

It may also help provide water for factories, fisheries and electricity generation.

The Cabinet also approved a system to help smaller government contractors receive payments faster.

Their dues are supposed to be paid within 180 days.

Late payments will require interest to be paid.

The government also approved a rehabilitation plan for Pandharpur.

The plan includes compensation and rent support for some affected shop owners and residents.
