Police in Udupi arrested Anuj Patil in connection with the killing of David D’Souza.

Police said Patil later grabbed an officer’s gun while he was being taken into custody.

Another officer then shot Patil in the leg, saying it was self-defence.

Patil was taken to a government hospital.

D’Souza was shot in the head at a church complex on August 7.

Police say two attackers arrived on a motorcycle.

Investigators say Patil had arranged three shooters, and 10 people have been arrested in the case.
