A man named David D'Souza was a leader of a political group called Congress in Udupi district, Karnataka.

He also worked as a contractor and owned a bar and a bus company.

On Friday afternoon, two people came in a vehicle and shot him.

He was badly hurt.

Bystanders and local helpers quickly took him to a hospital.

Sadly, he died before he could reach the hospital.

D'Souza had earlier been found guilty in the sad case of a church priest named Rev Fr Mahesh and had spent time in jail.

The police do not yet know why someone shot him.

They are looking into different possibilities, such as personal or business problems, to find who did this.
