NMMC to hold 179 voter camps before final SIR deadline

Every time a country holds an election, it needs a list of people who can vote.

This list is called the electoral roll.

The city of Navi Mumbai in India is updating its list right now.

To keep their names on the list, voters must fill out a special form called an Enumeration Form and give it to an election official.

The last day to do this is August 17, and officials say there will be no more extensions.

So the city is setting up 179 special camps this weekend, on August 8 and 9, where people can get help with their forms.

There are also special evening camps that stay open until 10 pm so working adults can go after their jobs.

If someone forgets to submit the form, their name will be taken off the draft voter list.

Then they would have to register all over again using another form.

The goal is to make sure everyone who wants to vote can stay on the list.
