Maharashtra Govt Proposes Thane-Diva Metro Corridor Through Kalwa, Mumbra
A new metro train line is being planned for people who live in Thane, Kalwa, Mumbra and Diva.
The Maharashtra government wants to build this metro to help people travel around the area more easily.
Today, many commuters have to squeeze into very crowded local trains and roads.
The new metro would give them another, more comfortable way to get around.
Nearly 300,000 people who live in Kalwa, Mumbra and Diva are expected to benefit.
The metro line would be partly underground and partly built above the roads.
It would also connect to the super-fast Mumbai-Ahmedabad train and to another metro line called Metro 12.
Engineers have six months to finish a detailed report about the plan.
After that, the government will know how much it costs and when it can be built.
The Maharashtra government proposed a new metro corridor connecting Thane, Kalwa, Mumbra and Diva.
Maha Metro will appoint an agency to conduct a feasibility study and prepare the Detailed Project Report within six months.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde approved the proposal in principle at a meeting in Mumbai on Monday.
The corridor will integrate with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor at Mhatardi in Diva and with Metro 12 at Manpada.
The project is expected to benefit nearly 3 lakh residents of Kalwa, Mumbra and Diva, easing pressure on overcrowded suburban trains and roads.
