Maharashtra Approves Metro Line 13, Pune Ring Road Expansion

Maharashtra has approved a new metro line called Metro Line 13.

It will connect Mira-Bhayandar with Vasai-Virar and nearby places such as Vasai, Nalasopara, Naigaon and Virar.

The line will be about 25 kilometres long and have 16 stations.

Most of it will run above the ground, while some parts will run underground.

It will connect with railway stations and another metro line.

A large road-and-metro bridge over Vasai Creek is also part of the plan.

Officials expect about 4.49 lakh people to use it each day by 2031.

The government says it could nearly halve road travel time and reduce traffic and pollution.

A separate expansion of Pune’s ring road was also approved to divert traffic away from the city.
