Delhi's plan for high rises, mixed-use along new housing corridor

Delhi is a very busy city, and it is running out of space for new homes.

So the people who plan the city have come up with a big idea.

They want to build tall buildings, up to 10 floors high, along a very long road.

This road is called the Urban Extension Road-II, and it is 75 kilometres long.

It links Delhi with the neighbouring state of Haryana.

Most of the road, about 54 kilometres, is inside Delhi itself.

Building tall apartments and shops together along this road is called a 'High Density Corridor'.

This idea is part of a big guide called the Master Plan for Delhi 2047.

The city's planning body, the DDA, has already said yes to the plan.

Now the central government needs to say yes too before anything can start.
