Centre Appoints IAS Officer Manoj Kumar Dwivedi as NDMC Chairperson
Manoj Kumar Dwivedi is a very experienced government worker in India.
He just got a big new job: leading the New Delhi Municipal Council.
That council helps take care of New Delhi, the capital city of India.
Mr. Dwivedi has been a government officer since 1997.
The central government of India chose him for this job.
The decision was announced on Wednesday, August 5.
The appointment was made using an old law called the New Delhi Municipal Council Act, 1994.
The person who had the job before, Keshav Chandra, left to work at another ministry.
Mr. Dwivedi will keep this job until the government decides to change it.
The Centre appointed 1997-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer Manoj Kumar Dwivedi as Chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
The appointment was notified by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and approved by the competent authority.
The Central government made the appointment under its powers under the New Delhi Municipal Council Act, 1994.
Dwivedi succeeds Keshav Chandra, who was transferred last month and assumed charge as Secretary, Ministry of Mines.
Dwivedi was previously Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training; one article says he assumes charge with immediate effect, another says on the date of his joining.
