A big river called the Godavari has water that farmers need for their crops.

A leader named Srihari wants to move that water to farms using pumps and pipes.

There is a special project called the Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme that does this job.

So far, only a small amount of water has been moved, like 5 bucketfuls out of 20.

Srihari wants the pumps to run almost all the time for 45 days.

That could move the remaining water in time to help the crops.

He also wants a new tunnel, which is already finished, to be switched on right away.

He says keeping water levels healthy in three nearby lakes is very important.

This work will help water about 78,000 acres of farmland, which is like a very large number of football fields.
