Modi Receives Uzbekistan’s Highest Honour as Ties Reach New Heights
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Uzbekistan’s highest state honour during a visit to Tashkent.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented him with the Order of “Oliy Darajali Do‘stlik.”
The award’s name includes “Dostlik,” which means friendship.
Modi said the honour represented the close friendship between India and Uzbekistan.
He also said it belonged to the people of India, not just to him.
The two countries agreed to make their relationship a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Their leaders discussed working together in areas such as trade, energy, defence and technology.
Modi said India and Uzbekistan would cooperate for the Global South and humanity.
