₹466.74 Crore Approved to Complete Shivamogga City Bypass
A bypass is a road that lets some vehicles travel around a city instead of through it.
India has approved ₹466.74 crore to build the remaining 4.74 kilometres of Shivamogga’s four-lane bypass.
The road is part of NH-206, which is now called NH-69.
The approval also includes improvements to the existing highway section inside the city that the bypass will go around.
Long-distance travellers and goods vehicles are expected to use the bypass.
That could leave city roads less crowded for local traffic.
The project is also expected to make travel smoother and improve road safety.
The approval was announced by Union minister Nitin Gadkari on October 3, 2026.
