Telangana Highway Set for Six-Lane Upgrade After Approval
Telangana wants to make a busy highway between Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Machilipatnam bigger.
The plan is to add lanes and service roads so traffic can move more safely and quickly.
The project has passed a technical review, but a Union government committee still needs to give final approval.
The state says it hopes to finish the tender process within two months.
It also says land is ready for the northern part of a large road around the region.
Officials are preparing new tenders for that road.
Another proposed project would build an elevated road from Mannanur to Srisailam through a forest area.
The minister asked the central government to speed up decisions on that project too.
The state says the Rs 12,073-crore National Highway-65 expansion has cleared the technical committee stage; Union Cabinet Committee approval is still pending.
The proposed Hyderabad–Vijayawada–Machilipatnam corridor upgrade includes six highway lanes and two additional service lanes.
The government aims to complete tendering within two months and begin work after final approvals.
Land acquisition for the 161.518-km northern section of Telangana’s Regional Ring Road is complete, and fresh tenders are being prepared.
The minister also urged the Centre to expedite approval for a proposed 52-km elevated corridor between Mannanur and Srisailam.
