Pune Voter Roll: 25 Lakh Marked Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate

Before big elections, the government checks the list of people who are allowed to vote, which is called the voter roll.

In Pune District, the government is reviewing this list during a special process called the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR.

Some voters got marked as 'ASDD', which means the officer thinks they may have moved away, passed away, or that their name appears twice.

More than 25 lakh names in the district got this ASDD mark.

The government put the list online so people can look up their name and their EPIC number.

If someone finds their name on the list by mistake, they can ask their Booth Level Officer to fix it.

A few places, like Shivajinagar, had many more marked names than others, like Baramati.

People can check PDF files for their assembly constituency on the district's website.

The checking part of the process ends on August 17, and the final voter list will come out on October 27.

That way, everyone who should be able to vote can make sure their name is on the final list.
