GVMC Launches Rs 115-crore Drinking Water Pipeline for Anakapalli
The city government in Visakhapatnam is building a very long pipe to bring clean drinking water to a town called Anakapalli.
The pipe will cost 115 crore rupees, which is a lot of money.
The government is paying for it with money from a special fund called the 15th Finance Commission.
The town is getting ready to celebrate 150 years of being a municipality, so it is getting many new improvements.
They are also planning a special plant to clean dirty water and better garbage services.
The leader of the project, Commissioner Ketan Garg, announced all this on a Monday.
He also started a new program where people can share their problems with the city government every Monday.
People told him about problems like water supply and encroachments.
He asked his workers to fix these problems quickly and check them properly.
He also gave out clay Ganesha idols and asked everyone to use clay idols instead of plastic ones for the Vinayaka Chavithi festival.
GVMC announced a Rs 115-crore drinking water pipeline project from Aganampudi to Anakapalli, funded under the 15th Finance Commission.
Commissioner Ketan Garg made the announcement on Monday as part of civic upgrades ahead of Anakapalli's 150th year as a municipality.
Plans include a sewage treatment plant for underground drainage connections, resolving the dumping yard issue, and strengthened sanitation services.
The announcement came at the launch of the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) programme, which will now be held from one of GVMC's 10 zones every Monday.
Garg received 11 petitions, directed officials to clear pending cases and follow audit guidelines, and promoted eco-friendly clay Ganesha idols for Vinayaka Chavithi.
