Gujarat Extends Rural Housing Penal Interest Waiver Through January 2027

The Gujarat government is giving some rural homeowners more time to pay money they still owe.

They only need to pay the original amount, called the principal, and do not have to pay the extra penalty interest.

The new deadline is January 31, 2027.

In the first part of the program, 2,988 people paid Rs 10.57 crore.

Together, they avoided paying Rs 39.51 crore in penalty interest.

The people who completed their payments received certificates showing that their loans were cleared.

The program is for beneficiaries of several Gujarat Rural Housing Board housing schemes.

The government says the extension will help people who missed the first phase.

More than 9,000 rural families could benefit from the broader scheme.
