Delhi's Naini Lake to get Rs 9.73 crore makeover
Naini Lake is a lake in Delhi that is getting a big makeover.
The city's civic body has started a project to make the lake cleaner, greener, and more beautiful.
Water that is cleaned at a sewage treatment plant will be sent to the lake so it stays filled.
Any extra cleaned water will be used to water the parks nearby.
Workers will add plants, pretty lights, and two musical fountains.
They will also fix the walkway drain, grill, and boundary around the lake.
The whole project costs about Rs 9.73 crore.
It was officially started on Sunday by city leaders including Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra.
The work is expected to finish by July 2027.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken up a Rs 9.73-crore project to rejuvenate and beautify Naini Lake in Model Town.
Treated sewage water from the Coronation Pillar sewage treatment plant will be supplied to the lake to promote wastewater reuse.
Excess treated water will be used to irrigate nearby municipal parks under the project.
Work includes horticultural development, remodeling of the peripheral RCC drain, decorative lighting, two musical fountains, and repair of the lake's grill and boundary.
The rejuvenation work, inaugurated on Sunday, is scheduled to be completed by July 2027.
