Scientists at a big engineering college in India found a new way to make clean fuel called hydrogen.

Hydrogen is a special gas that only creates water when it is used for energy, so it does not dirty the air.

Right now, most hydrogen comes from oil, gas, and coal, which is not good for the planet.

The scientists made a special helper called a catalyst that can split water into hydrogen and oxygen.

The catalyst is made from a cheap nickel salt and a molecule based on a chemical called anthracene.

Before, making this catalyst needed expensive metals, but now a cheap ingredient can do the job.

Their invention uses almost 88 out of every 100 units of electricity to split the water, wasting very little energy.

The new catalyst also stayed strong even when it was used for a long time.

This helps India make green hydrogen, which is clean energy for the future.
