NGT Seeks Compliance Report on Railway Station Waste Disposal

The National Green Tribunal is a special court in India that protects the environment.

It found out that a railway station in Bhopal called Rani Kamlapati Railway Station had a big garbage problem.

The court read a news report about the dirty station and decided to act on its own.

It has ordered the railway manager and the state pollution board to fix the problem and send a report within two months.

The railway must create a special team of environment experts to train cleaning staff.

The team will make sure garbage is collected in the right places instead of being thrown on trains.

Inspectors saw plastic bags full of trash sitting on goods trains at the station.

They also saw piles of garbage behind the benches on the platforms.

The court said cleaning often happens only after people complain, so it wants better monitoring.

If the rules are not followed, the pollution board can take action and make the railway pay for the damage.
