India Adds Silver, Bronze on Day 8 of Commonwealth Games
India played a big game at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
A weightlifter named Lovepreet Singh lifted a record 176 kg and won a silver medal.
A discus thrower, Seema Kaliramna, threw 58.65 meters and got a bronze.
Three Indian javelin throwers, Neeraj Chopra, Rohit Yadav, and Yashvir Singh, made it to the final round even though the wind was strong.
Other athletes like Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu moved on to the triple‑jump final, and Tejaswin Shankar was close to a medal in the decathlon.

Lovepreet Singh set a Commonwealth Games snatch record of 176 kg and finished with a 388 kg total, just one kilogram behind New Zealand’s David Andrew Liti who won gold.
Seema Kaliramna’s 58.65 m throw earned bronze despite fouling her last three attempts; Jamaica’s Samantha Hall and Canada’s Julia Tunks took gold and silver.
Neeraj Chopra, Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh qualified for the men’s javelin final in windy conditions, with Chopra finishing fifth at 79.61 m.
Other athletes advanced to finals or posted strong performances: Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu in triple jump, Tejaswin Shankar 2nd in decathlon after five events, and Navneet Singh/Dinesh Kumar remained unbeaten in lawn bowls.
