Nashik FDA Seizes Cow Ghee and Turmeric Powder Stock
Food officials in Nashik checked products before the festive season.
They found and seized cow ghee and turmeric powder from a shop in the APMC market.
The seized food was worth about ₹3.01 lakh.
The stock included 75 kilograms of ghee and 900 kilograms of turmeric powder.
Officials suspected that the products might not meet food-safety rules.
They said the products could be a risk to people’s health if they were unsafe.
The inspection was part of a larger drive across the state.
People can report suspected unsafe food through the FDA’s online complaint portal.
The Nashik Food and Drug Administration seized food stock worth ₹3,01,900 from an APMC trader on September 21, 2024.
The seized stock included 75 kg of Vatula cow ghee valued at ₹56,200.
Officials also seized 900 kg of turmeric powder valued at ₹2,45,700.
The action followed suspected violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and concerns about product quality and public health.
The FDA said inspections will continue during its statewide festive-season drive, and urged citizens to report suspected unsafe or adulterated food online.
