Nagaland Draft Roll Retains 11.99 Lakh, Excludes 1.59 Lakh
Nagaland checked its voter list in a process called a Special Intensive Revision.
The draft list contains 11.99 lakh voters.
The earlier list had 13.57 lakh voters.
Many names were removed because people had died, moved away, were registered more than once, or could not be verified.
Some people also did not submit the required forms or did not want to register.
People who believe their names were wrongly removed can file a claim or objection.
They have until October 20 to do this.
Officials plan to publish the final voter list on November 22.
The report’s overall exclusion figure differs somewhat from the totals of the categories it lists.
Nagaland’s draft electoral roll retains 11.99 lakh voters from 13.57 lakh pre-SIR electors.
The revision identified 29,944 electors as deceased, 1.23 lakh as absent or permanently shifted, and 5,059 as registered multiple times.
The absent or shifted category also includes people who did not submit forms, could not be found, or declined to register.
Voters can submit claims and objections to deletions until October 20.
The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on November 22, with disposal of claims and objections continuing until November 18.
