Northeast States Seek Special Package for NEP 2020 Implementation
Northeastern states in India want extra financial help to carry out National Education Policy 2020.
They said a special package from the Prime Minister would help schools and colleges overcome local challenges.
The states also want an annual meeting where education officials can share ideas and track progress.
They proposed using local languages, community knowledge and Indigenous traditions in lessons.
They want better monitoring to ensure children learn basic reading and mathematics skills.
They also called for stronger links between training institutes, colleges and employers.
Better roads, electricity and internet were identified as important for education.
The recommendations will be sent to India’s Ministry of Education.

The states recommended an annual Northeast Education Conclave and proposed a North East Knowledge System based on indigenous heritage.
Education priorities included multilingual teaching, foundational literacy monitoring, vocational links, infrastructure upgrades and responsible technology use.
The recommendations also addressed power, transportation and digital-connectivity gaps affecting education delivery across the region.
The proposals are expected to be submitted to the Ministry of Education, alongside plans for an implementation committee and a Forum of Education Ministers.
