Nearly 47.7 Lakh Voters Missing From Delhi Draft Roll
Delhi is checking its voter list through a process called the Special Intensive Revision.
Officials expect about 97.5 lakh people to appear in the first draft list.
About 47.7 lakh names may not appear because their forms were marked uncollectable.
This does not permanently remove those people from voting.
They can ask for their names to be added between August 31 and September 30.
Officials may also contact some people whose names are included if their information looks unusual.
They may ask for more documents about a person’s age or citizenship.
The completed voter list is expected on November 4.
About 47.7 lakh of Delhi’s 1.45 crore electors may be excluded from the draft roll.
The draft is expected to include around 97.5 lakh electors whose forms were digitised.
The excluded voters were marked under Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others categories.
Excluded electors can file claims and objections between August 31 and September 30.
The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on November 4, while Aadhaar alone will not prove eligibility.
