Pune RTA fixes ambulance fares and revises autorickshaw charges
The government office in Pune that oversees taxis, buses and ambulances met on August 3 to decide new prices.
Ambulances will now have fixed charges depending on their size and type.
A small Maruti Omni ambulance can charge about Rs 700 for the first 25 kilometres.
A bigger, air-conditioned Force Tempo Traveller/ICU ambulance can charge up to Rs 2,500 for the same distance.
Auto-rickshaws will also get a small price increase starting September 1.
Their minimum fare will go up from Rs 25 to Rs 30.
Rides late at night will cost a little extra.
Drivers who charge more than the allowed price will have to pay fines.
Auto-rickshaw meters must be updated by February 2027.
This helps make sure passengers pay fair prices.
The Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Pune, fixed ambulance fares at its meeting held on August 3.
Ambulance fares range from Rs 700 for a Maruti Omni to Rs 2,500 for an air-conditioned Force Tempo Traveller/ICU ambulance for up to 25 km or two hours.
The autorickshaw minimum fare for the first 1.5 km will rise to Rs 30 from Rs 25, effective September 1.
Ambulance operators charging above fixed fares face fines of Rs 5,000 for the first offence, rising to Rs 20,000 for repeat offences.
Autorickshaw meters must be calibrated to the revised fares by February 28, 2027, with temporary tariff cards valid until then.
