Dakshina Kannada Revises Auto-Rickshaw Fares From September 1
Auto-rickshaw rides in Dakshina Kannada will cost more under new district-wide rules.
The changes begin on September 1.
The first 1.5 kilometres will cost Rs 40.
This price can cover up to three passengers.
Each kilometre after that will cost Rs 20.
The first 10 minutes of waiting will be free.
After that, passengers will pay Rs 5 for each extra 15-minute period or part of one.
Night rides will cost one and a half times the regular fare.
The new rules also explain when passengers must pay for heavier luggage.
The Dakshina Kannada Regional Transport Authority set the minimum auto-rickshaw fare at Rs 40 for the first 1.5 km.
The revised minimum fare covers up to three passengers and applies across the district from September 1.
Passengers will pay Rs 20 for every additional kilometre after the first 1.5 km.
The first 10 minutes of waiting are free, followed by a charge of Rs 5 for every additional 15 minutes or part thereof.
Night fares from 10 pm to 5 am will be 1.5 times the normal meter fare, while specified luggage charges will also apply.
