Yuva Shakti, Vande Mataram highlight 80th Independence Day celebrations

Every year on August 15, India celebrates Independence Day, the day the country became free.

This year, India celebrates its 80th Independence Day at the famous historic Red Fort.

India's leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will lead the celebration.

This year's special theme is 'Yuva Shakti,' which means the power of young people.

India wants to become a fully developed country by 2047, and young people will help achieve that.

The national song 'Vande Mataram' turns 150 years old this year, so it will be sung at the Red Fort for the very first time.

Bands from the army, navy, air force and other security groups will perform at 343 places across the country from August 8 to 15.

Many special guests are invited, including students who won medals at science and maths Olympiads.

An air force helicopter will fly over the fort carrying a banner and showering flower petals.

If it rains during the celebration, the visitors will be given ponchos to stay dry.
