India Marks 80th Independence Day With Vande Mataram at Red Fort

India is getting ready to celebrate its 80th birthday as an independent country on August 15.

This year, the celebration has some special firsts.

For the very first time, the national song 'Vande Mataram' will be sung at the Red Fort.

That song was written 150 years ago.

The theme of this year's celebration is 'Yuva Shakti', which means the power of young people.

There is also a special event called the 'Tiranga Yatra', which means a journey with the national flag.

For the first time, this journey will go to faraway villages and schools in Chhattisgarh.

Those places were once controlled by Naxal groups.

Ninety-two villages in an area called Bastar will raise the Indian flag for the first time since Independence.

Chhattisgarh has been free from Left-Wing Extremism since March.

It will be a very happy and historic day for everyone.
