PM Modi Leads 80th Independence Day Celebrations At Red Fort

India celebrates its Independence Day on August 15 every year to remember the day it became free.

This year is the 80th time the country has celebrated this special day.

The biggest celebration happens at the Red Fort, an old fort in Delhi.

India's leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, raised the national flag there.

For the very first time, a famous song called 'Vande Mataram' was played at the Red Fort celebration, because the song is 150 years old this year.

Soldiers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force saluted the flag while cannons fired a special salute.

Two helicopters flew over the fort and dropped flower petals from the sky.

Nearly 2,500 young cadets sat on a special path and used their bodies to form the words 'Vande Mataram'.

The Prime Minister also gave a speech to the whole country, telling everyone about India's plans for the future.
