India to Host Global Agrivoltaics Conference in 2026

India will hold a major conference about growing crops and producing solar electricity on the same land.

This approach is called agrivoltaics.

Solar panels can generate power while farmers continue cultivating crops underneath or around them.

The government says this could give farmers another source of income.

It may also help protect them from uncertain monsoons and changing crop prices.

Researchers in Pune are testing 17 solar designs across 30 crops.

The conference will bring together people from farming, government, research and industry.

India hopes its experience can help other developing countries use affordable agrivoltaics.
